For the past twenty years or so Holywood has hosted May Day celebrations in the town when the community gets together to enjoy a bit of fun, young people dance around the only Maypole in Ireland, old friendships are renewed and local charities sell their wares on the numerous different stalls provided by North Down Borough Council to raise money for their various causes.
At the beginning of the year after a number of meetings, three guys Rory Eves, Ricky McNeely and Alan Duddy confirmed that along with Colin and Gail they would travel to Kosova in July to participate in the 2014 summer team.
A big thank you to Micky Leech from Rasharkin who returned to Kosova this year for another Easter project. Micky’s task this year was to repaint the inside of primary school in Runjeve and along with a couple of local guys they did a great job.
On a number of occasions volunteers have driven vehicles to Kosova for us, five emergency ambulances and two 4×4 jeeps. These vehicles have always been laden with medical supplies, items for the Fire Service in Kacanik and toys for the Toy Library
We want to say thank you to the pupils from Dominican College who recently supported an ice cream sale in school to help raise funds to support the work of the group this summer. A big thank you must go to the Upper 6th girls as well who as part of their leaving activities also made a generous contribution to our work. Your support girls is much appreciated and the money will be used wisely for the benefit of others this summer. www.dominicancollege.org.uk
